Tou Jie Dao Profit Strategy: 6 Tips for Buying Low, Selling High and Reading the Heaven Cards

The Difference Between Winners and Losers Is How You Read the Cards

A Tou Jie Dao game lasts 12 Rounds, and winning is not about who buys the most — it is about who buys and sells at the right moment. Every Round, the Heaven Cards (the 64 Hexagrams of the I Ching) rewrite the Market Price. Genuine experts read each Heaven Card as if it were the news from the future. Here are all 6 tips, from beginner to advanced, in one place.

Tip 1: Anticipate the Heaven Card and Position Early

The Heaven Card revealed at the end of every Round shifts the Market Price of the Five Elements — a hexagram such as Water +2, Fire +1, Wood +1, Earth +0 is information laid right on the table. Is the next Heaven Card going to push Water up? Buy Water in advance, then sell after the Market Price rises. Buying low and selling high is not a matter of luck — it is about seeing the direction of the Heaven Card one step ahead of everyone else.

Tip 2: Three Waters Grow One Wood — Let Your Assets Grow by Themselves

Some Heaven Cards carry a "three Waters grow one Wood" effect: for every 3 Water cards you hold, Settlement automatically yields 1 extra Wood card. Wood is the most scarce asset on the market and the one most likely to rise — only 24 Wood cards exist in total. Water is cheap and keeps you alive, so hoarding Water to grow Wood is the steadiest compounding strategy — safe enough for a beginner to rely on with confidence.

Tip 3: Trade the Fire Cycles — Get In and Out Fast

Fire cards can be bought and sold 2 times each Round, making them the only "day-trading" tool in the game. Fire stands for volatility: when a Heaven Card pushes Fire up, buy 2 cards at once and sell the moment they rise; when Fire falls, do not try to catch the falling knife. Fire moves fast and pays well, but its cycle turns just as fast — only touch Fire when you can see a clear direction.

Tip 4: Role Skills Are a Free Way to Cash In

A Role's active skill often earns more than trading does: the Scholar's "Literary Talent" can turn Wood cards directly into gold at Market Price (a cash-out machine whenever Wood goes up); Buffett earns 1 gold for every two Fire cards; the Worker punches in and earns gold. Remember: skills are free — use them every Round you can. Income from Role Skills often decides the final ranking.

Tip 5: Turn-Order Compensation — Late Seats Can Still Fight Back

The game pays players who trade later in the order a gold compensation (3rd to 5th place: +1 gold; 6th to 8th place: +2 gold). If you draw a late seat, do not be discouraged: that extra starting gold is chips to play with. Combined with Heaven Card anticipation, it can even let you position for the next Round's rally before the early players do.

Tip 6: Borrow Only for Certainties, Never Gamble on Luck

Each Integrity Token lets you borrow 4 gold — leverage that stretches your gains, but leverage also magnifies your losses. There is only one rule: borrow only when you can calculate a sure price spread — for example, when a Heaven Card guarantees Wood +2 and you have already worked out that your selling price beats the principal plus Interest. Gambling with borrowed money is a beginner's first step toward bankruptcy.

Summary

Read the Heaven Cards, grow Water and Wood, ride the Fire cycles, use your skills, take the compensation and handle leverage carefully — master these six moves and your Net Worth ranking will climb steadily. Trading is, at its core, converting information into price spreads — and in Tou Jie Dao, the information is written on every Heaven Card.
